Our School

Keysborough Gardens Primary School

Keysborough Gardens Primary School officially opened its doors on the 28th January 2020.  Enrolments for 2026 have steadily increased to approximately 520 students across 23 classes. Our estimated long-term projected enrolment is around 600-650 students.

The school class structure will continue to adapt to enrolment growth. In 2026 straight classes will be provided in all year levels for the first time since the school opened.  Whilst home groups will be formed at all levels, a differentiated program caters for individual learning needs.

The school is located on a landscaped 2.2-hectare site in Keysborough South, approximately 27 km south-east of Melbourne and 7km inland from Port Phillip Bay. In an area once made up of market gardens and semi-rural properties, Keysborough South is now a steadily growing and culturally diverse community.

The school's buildings contain a variety of flexible learning spaces that can be utilised for collaborative learning, explicit instruction, presentations, quiet reading, and hands on learning through experimentation and play. A well-equipped Gymnasium facilitates our Physical Education and Performing Arts programs, as well as housing our school canteen. The grounds include sports courts, grassed play spaces, junior and senior playgrounds, an outdoor stage and an astro-turf 'green zone' to facilitate calm play outside.

The school's staffing profile is built upon the principles of a highly effective Professional Learning Community, recruiting educators with a range of teaching experience, backgrounds and expertise. Keysborough Gardens Primary School is an authorised International Baccalaureate world school delivering the Primary Years Programme. Leaders and teachers at Keysborough Gardens PS demonstrate a passion for and commitment to inquiry-based pedagogy, as well as explicit teaching, informed by on-going assessment, and driven by individual student learning data. They demonstrate a strong passion for collaborative planning and teaching, enhanced by the school's flexible learning spaces.

Leaders and teachers at Keysborough Gardens PS are also dedicated to the social, emotional as well as academic growth of every student. Underpinning everything they do is an ability to remain focused on student learning growth as well as their own growth as high-quality teachers. Education Support staff, both in administration and within learning spaces, are integral to the success of the school in many varied ways. The core values of Kindness, Empathy, Gratitude, Respect and Excellence guide the daily interactions of all members of the Keysborough Gardens school community.

Our Beginnings

Keysborough Gardens Primary School was one of 10 new schools built in 2019. For the Keysborough community this was a very exciting development.  Keysborough Gardens Primary School officially opened in 2020.

State of the Art Learning Spaces

Our  learning spaces are designed to create collaborative and flexible learning environments. These wonderful spaces allow for many learning opportunities to occur throughout the day.

MAIN BUILDING

On the ground floor, our main building houses reception, staff offices, meeting rooms, Mandarin, our library, and the Prep and Year One Learning Spaces.

Level One includes the Year Two, Year Three and Year Four Learning Spaces.

PERFORMING ARTS & PHYSICAL EDUCATION BUILDINGS

The PAPE building is used during the day for Physical Education, Performing Arts and Before and After School Care. After school hours this space is used by various community groups.

YEAR 5 BUILDING

The 5 Learning space is separate to the main building.  This two storey building contains 4 classrooms, additional withdrawal spaces and small group areas.

YEAR SIX / STEM / ART BUILDING

Opening in 2026, the Year 6 / STEM / Art building is a purpose-built, single-storey learning space located in the centre of the school. The building houses our Year 6 learning community, with separate, dedicated STEM and Art facilities. It contains four classrooms, additional withdrawal spaces and small group areas, supporting both specialised and collaborative learning.
